Whether working on custom duplication for homeowners on the beach in Malibu, or duplicating moulding for the Historic Society of the City of Pasadena, We are able to help with the details that make all the difference.
In 2017 we assisted in the remodeling of the Fannie Bonham Row houses in Historic Pasadena. We used our custom tooling to duplicate exterior crown moulding woodwork that needed repair. source
The Old Pasadena Historic District is significant as the largest and best collection of downtown buildings within Pasadena and as one of the finest remaining examples of a late 19th and early 20th century downtown district in Southern California. As the focal point of commerce and industry in Pasadena and the greater San Gabriel Valley these buildings attest to the importance of Pasadena in the development and growth of Southern California, The district documents the economic and stylistic eras of Pasadena's growth between 1886 and 1930 and contains an important record of the evolution of architectural design in Southern California as many of its buildings are the work of prominent regional architects. source
We offer precise Historical Matching. We will recreate all the fine details of your mouldings, trim, flooring, siding, and more. We source the same lumber used to build the items and work with you to perfect the details to breathe that new life into your home or building. We will adhere to those rules that your historical society lays down and provide a materially outstanding experience.
While Old Pasadena is predominantly non-residential in character, several early houses do remain which document the once close proximity of commercial and residential uses. 221-231 North Raymond is the only remaining example of rowhouse construction within the city.
The units were constructed with tile fireplaces and solar heaters. Primarily utilitarian in design, the building displays scroll patterned friezes on the north and south elevations.
We worked with the builders and the city on this project to replicate the mouldings on the exterior. We matched the details precisely, down to the material used by the original builders - Douglas Fir..
Due to our efforts in preserving this important historical, cultural, and architectural landmark, Jackson Milling & Lumber, Inc. was presented with the Historic Preservation Award by the city of Pasadena as well as a certificate of recognition for our work from Anthony Portantino, then-Senator of California.
